Gary DeLane Hoberg, 84, of Owatonna, died Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca.

He was born June 19, 1939 in Waseca, Minnesota the son of Lloyd and Mildred (Weckwerth) Hoberg. He grew up in Waseca and graduated from Waseca High School, Class of 1957. Gary was inducted into the Waseca High School Hall of Fame in 2015 as a 4 sport athlete (football, basketball, baseball and track).

On November 23, 1968, Gary married Janet Klemmer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The couple made their home in Owatonna where they raised their family.

Gary owned and operated Hoberg Landscaping and worked at Owatonna Tool Company from which he retired in 2001.

Gary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. He enjoyed watching any and all sports, tending to his flower gardens and lawn and keeping up with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Heather (and Christopher) Rothe of Rochester, Erick (and Jessica) Hoberg of Hibbing, Jef (and Michelle) Nelson of Carrollton, TX; daughter in law, Jolene Nelson of Waseca; grandchildren, Zachary Hensley, Kennedy Rothe, AJ Rothe, Reagan Hoberg, Ezra Hoberg, Scott Nelson, Diana Nelson, April Tesch and Amber Nelson; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Sharyn (and Thomas ) Fowler of Tarpon Springs, FL and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Hoberg and son, Jay Nelson.

Services for Gary will be private.
