Gary R. Owens, 78, of West Concord, died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at his home. He was born January 14, 1934 in Austin, Minnesota the son of Joseph and Winifred (Kolpin) Owens. Gary worked at Trow bridges Grocery while in school and graduated from Austin High School in 1952. Gary then entered the United States Air Force serving from 1952-1956, and started working for IBM in Rochester in January of 1956 until retiring in 1991. Gary and his family lived in Kasson for fifteen years before moving to West Concord in 1976. Gary enjoyed hunting, and fishing all his life and retirement allowed him to pursue his passion full time He is survived by his wife Jean Owens of West Concord, children Pam (friend Leon Matties) Schneider of Gibbon, Bruce (Carol) Owens of Spring Valley, Lynn (Dan) Harty of Rochester, Mark (Michelle) Owens of Bellevue, NE, Barry (Mary) Owens of Stewartville, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one brother Gene Owens of Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord on Wednesday March 28, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 28, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord with The Reverend Chris Brekke officiating.
