Gary E. Utoft 72, of Owatonna, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at Traditions II of Owatonna. He was born June 7, 1942 in Tyler, Minnesota the son of Erling and Mildred (Petersen) Utoft. Gary graduated from high school in 1960 from Tyler, MN and then attended college at Augsburg and the University of MN. He was united in marriage to Janice Lundgren November 24, 1962 in Tyler. The couple then moved to Minneapolis and in 1965 moved to Owatonna when Gary started working for Federated Insurance. Gary worked there until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed driving school bus in his early years of retirement. Gary was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and many local clubs, including the Exchange Club and the Elks. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by three sons, Christopher (Staci Smith) Utoft of Owatonna, Timothy Utoft of Burnsville and Jeffrey (Jenny) Utoft of Brooklyn Park, two grandchildren Harrison and Natalie. He is also survived by one sister Mavis (Lee) Kuld of Tucson, AZ, and two brothers Jim (Judy) Utoft of Tucson, AZ, and Steve (Jill) Utoft of Greeley, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Janice. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday March 1, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday March 2, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday March 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Steffen officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
