Geneva Bernice Dettmer-Place, 91, of Owatonna, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, 2018. She was born April 23, 1927 in Waverly, Iowa the daughter of William and Ella (Koch) Bock. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1945. Geneva enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, sewing, and taking care of her grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Pam (Jon) Bock, Michael (Roxanne) Dettmer, Jane (Duane Bock) Dettmer; grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Bock, Geoffrey (Rebecca) Bock, Melanie Dettmer, Michelle Dettmer, Molly (Shane) Pettis, Bradley (Meg) Severson; 7 great-grandchildren; step-children, Susan (Erick) Petranek, Dana (Tricia) Place, Mark (Lisa) Place, Melanie (Kirby) Knutson and many nieces and nephews. Geneva was preceded in death by her first husband Duane Dettmer; second husband, Howard Place, 3 brothers, and 6 sisters. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, December 31, 2018 from 9:00- 11:00 am. Funeral services will be held following at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Owatonna with The Reverend Amanda Weinkauf officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
