Genevieve Susan Meyer, 89, of Kenyon and Mankato, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Pathstone Crossing, Mankato. She was born August 31, 1924 in Faribault the daughter of Charles and Eva (Kotz) Strouth. Genevieve attended country school near her family farm and graduated from Faribault High School. She worked at Faribault Woolen Mill Co. after high school. Genevieve married James Meyer June 21, 1950 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. The couple farmed together for many years near Kenyon. While helping her husband farm, she also worked at the Canning Company and Jerome Foods. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. While her children were young she was a 4-H leader. Genevieve enjoyed baking, playing cards and playing bingo. She is survived by daughter, Donna Wenkel of North Mankato; sons, James (and Elaine) Meyer of Omaha, NE, Richard (and Pamela) Meyer of Warsaw, Thomas Meyer of Kenyon; grandchildren, Brian (and Fiance Kelly) Meyer, Valerie (and Aric) Sedlacek, Laura (and Patrick) Landkamer, Patrick (and Fiance Aurelie) Wenkel, Elizabeth (and Charles) Wendler, Jeanine Meyer; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Sunday from 4pm to 6pm with a rosary at 4pm and at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Monday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Memorial services will be held Monday, October 7, 2013 at 10:30am at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Erik Lundgren officiating. Interment will be in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Faribault.
