Obituary

George O. Nustad, 83, of Owatonna, Minnesota, died Monday, May 19, 2008 at his home. He was born December 8, 1924 in Bismarck, North Dakota the son of Oscar and Martha (George) Nustad. George graduated high school in Park Rapids, MN, and then entered the United States Army and served on D-Day at Normandy and the European Theater. He received two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. George married Ardelle Potter November 22, 1947. George worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for thirty- eight years throughout Minnesota. After retiring he worked for Melrose Telephone Co. in Melrose, MN. He was a member of the Shriners Club, 1st Infantry Association and a past President of the Minnesota Telephone Assoc. He is survived by his wife Ardelle, daughter Nancy (Mel) Olmscheid of Annapolis, Maryland, son Rob (Sue) Nustad of Owatonna. He is also survived by five grandchildren Mark and Eric Olmscheid, Tim, Beth, and Monica Nustad, brother Pete (Merc) Ames of Ulm, MT, sister Cherie (Art) Merkel of Bismarck, ND Funeral service will be Thursday May 22, 2008 at 10:00 AM at United Methodist Church with The Reverend Pat Hinker officiating. Visitation will be today May 21, 2008 from 5-7 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 1:30 PM, meeting at assembly area #5.
