George Edwin Olson, 86, of Kenyon, Minn., passed away on April 4, 2019, with family by his side at the Kenyon Sunset Home. George was born to Edwin and Hazel Olson on March 2, 1933 in Westport, Minn. He graduated from Chaska High School as Valedictorian and attended Mankato State Teachers College, majoring in Biology and Geography. On June 23, 1956, he married Marion Johnson at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church. He taught Biology and Earth Science at the Kenyon High School from 1956 to his retirement in 1993. George's walk with the Lord was very important to him. He was a long-time member of Hauge Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their lake cabin and walking in their woods. He also enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, listening to classical music, engaging in a good conversation, reading and woodworking. George is survived by his wife Marion; brother, Dan (Nancy) Olson, Bend, Ore.; brother-in-law, Luther Schmidt, Minneapolis, Minn.; children, Bruce (Connie) Olson, Northfield, Minn., Kari (Gary) McCoskey, Jewell, Iowa and Katy (Ray) Ades, Kenyon; grandchildren, Kristina (Josh) Koehn, Britta (Ryan) Veldman, Erika (Danny) Kopseng; Caryn (Ryan) Augustine, Jay (Katey) McCoskey; Regan (Kristin) Ades, Aubrie (Philip) McBride, Hudson Ades and Mitchell Ades; great-grandchildren, Reuben, Jack, Grant, Henry, Matthew, Nora, Thomas, Simeon, Owen and Clara. George was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bernice Schmidt. A memorial service will be held at Hauge Lutheran Church in Kenyon on Saturday, April 13 at 2:00 with refreshments to follow. Visitation will begin at 12:30. There will be a private family internment. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Samaritan's Purse or Wycliffe Bible Translators.
