Obituary

George W. Schienbein, 80, of West Concord, died Monday, April 19, 2010 at Kenyon Sunset Home. George was born in Fonda, Iowa the son of John and Elizabeth (Walter) Schienbein. As a child, he moved throughout Iowa and later to Leader, Minnesota. He then moved to Browerville, Minnesota where he completed school. George entered the United States Army in April 1952 and served two years receiving his honorable discharge in April of 1954. Following his service he was united in marriage to Alice Petrich on June 26, 1955 in Chehalis, WA. They continued making their home in Washington before returning to Browerville. There he helped farm. They then moved to Little Falls and he worked for Boat Works. They moved to South St. Paul and worked in a TV appliance store and later delivered furniture. During that time they moved to Columbia Heights and in June of 1977, they moved to West Concord. He recently entered the Kenyon Sunset Home. George enjoyed farming, gardening and being outdoors. He is survived by his wife Alice Schienbein of West Concord; two daughters, Gloria (and Paul) Spohn of Eagan; Ramona Matter of Medford; two sons, Marlin Schienbein of West Concord; Gary Schienbein of Faribault; a brother, Fred (and Bernice) Schienbein of Brainerd; a sister-in-law, Ruby Schienbein of Rapid City; and five grandchildren, Adrhyan, Marissa, Paige, Karli and Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna on Friday, April 23, 2010 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna with The Reverend Nancy Edwardson officiating.
