Gerald Jerry A. Schroht, 77, of Owatonna, died Friday, January 6, 2017 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, Minnesota. Jerry was born August 8, 1939 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Albert and Doris (Peterson) Schroht. He attended Owatonna High School. Jerry then helped on the family farm and worked part time for Wright Tree Service. He was united in marriage to Berniece Reiter on September 22, 1956 at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, Minnesota. They resided in Owatonna prior to moving to the family farm in Deerfield Township where Jerry operated a dairy operation and crop farmed. Jerry and Berniece also wintered in Florida for the past 21 years. Jerry treasured his time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, trains, and John Deere antique tractors; many of which he purchased at auctions. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Eagles, and Steele County Historical Society. He served as a 4-H leader, chairman of country school board, Holstein board, Steele County American Dairy Association, and Mid America. Jerry and Berniece were selected as Young Cooperators of the Year, Farm Family of the Year, and recognized for their Century Farm. Jerry was a dealer for Archer Oil and Asgrow Seed Corn. He is survived by his wife, Berniece Schroht of Owatonna; four children, Randy (Audrey) Schroht of Owatonna, Jon Schroht of Indialantic, FL, Kari Reuvers of Willmar, and Bradley (Sue) Schroht of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren, Aaron, David, Colleen, and Thomas Schroht, Ryan (Casey) Schroht, Brittney and Shannon Schroht, Josh (Ashley) Reuvers, Brandon Reuvers, Kullen Schroht, Danielle (Andrew) Maki; 8 great grandchildren, Derek, Avyana, Adeline, Dylan, Weston, August, Geno, and Macey; brothers, Ronald (Tamara) Schroht and Donald Schroht all of Owatonna. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marlowe Schroht; and sister-in-law, Nancy Schroht. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, Steele County Historical Society, or Homestead Hospice Patient Care Fund.
