Gerald E. Behne, 69, of Claremont, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born July 16, 1940 in Steele County, Minnesota the son of Clifford and Bertha (Abraham) Behne. Gerald graduated from Claremont High School in 1959, and served in the United States Army for two years. Gerald then worked with his father in the trucking business (Clifford Behne Son) hauling milk, grain, and gravel. He married Sandra Hunt September 17, 1966. The couple lived in Claremont and Gerald later worked for the Claremont Elevator, and for Viracon for nineteen years retiring in 2006. He enjoyed ice fishing, gardening, lawn care, NASCAR, and most of all his four grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Sandra of Claremont, daughter, Renea (and David) Krause of Owatonna, son, Rich (and Stephanie) Behne of Rochester, and four grandchildren Breeann, Lindsay, Mehsa, and Boldin. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, sister Caroline Christey, and brother Arnold Boerner. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-6 PM and on Monday one hour prior to the service. Funeral service will be held Monday March 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
