Gerald Neuman Jacobson, 95, of Owatonna, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born February 14, 1923 on the family farm in Lemond Township, Steele County, Minnesota the son of Albert and Myrtle (Olson) Jacobson. He attended school at District #53, a rural, one-room school near his home for eight years and then attended New Richland High School. On September 26, 1945, he married Marie Hove in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. They shared 72 years together until Marie's death in December, 2017. During those years, they raised two daughters, Audrey Osterberg and Diane Norvell. Gerald worked and lived on the family farm until 2004, when he and Marie moved to Owatonna. His friends, fishing, farming and the driving trips around the United States, including Alaska, brought Gerald great pleasure. The thing that he treasured most, was the time he could spend with his family. He will be greatly missed by all of them. He is survived by daughters, Audrey Osterberg of Owatonna and Diane Norvell of Dayton; brother, Howard Jacobson of Owatonna; granddaughters, Shelly (Kerry) Swanson of Owatonna and Rochelle (Dan) Hilson of Eden Prairie; great-grandchildren, Alissa (Don) Luethy, Chadd (Katie) Swanson, Annabelle Hilson, Sean Hilson and Nolan Hilson and great-great-grandchildren, Karinda and Logan Willis, Alexa and Donavan Luethy and Tanner and Skyler Swanson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Myrtle; wife, Marie Jacobson; infant son, James; grandchildren, Greg Miller and Sheila Richards and siblings, Emmett, Clair and Verna Jacobson. Visitation will be at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Lemond Township on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held August 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Hegal officiating. Interment will be in the Pontoppidan Lutheran Cemetery in Lemond Township. Memorials are preferred to Pontoppidan Lutheran Church and Cemetery.
