Geraldine Ruth Abbe, 86, of Owatonna, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Cedarview Care Center. She was born July 18, 1923 in Owatonna the daughter of Joseph and Margot (Sneva) Langer. Geraldine graduated from Owatonna High School in 1941 and attended 1 year of school at the University of Minnesota Agriculture School in St. Paul. She worked at Federated Insurance and Woolworth's part time. Geraldine Langer married Norbert Abbe Sept. 2, 1945 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The couple farmed together for many years. Norbert preceded Geraldine in death in 2001 at which time she moved off the farm to Owatonna. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she had been active with Church Circle and the Quilters. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed birds and flowers. Geraldine is survived by son, Paul (and Becca) Abbe of Staunton, VA; daughters, Pat (and Wayne) Wascovich of Hummelstown, PA, Kay Cassen of Owatonna; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Ray Langer of Owatonna and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert; parents, Margot Joseph Langer; granddaughter, Christina Abbe; brothers, William Langer, Robert Langer, Durword Langer; sister, Abby Louise Langer. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 4pm to 7pm and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Monday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 24, 2009 at 11:00am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Meriden with The Reverend Gary Rusinko officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Meriden Township. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul''s Lutheran Church.
