Gertrude Mork, 88, of Kenyon, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Charter House in Rochester. She was born October 6, 1920 in Radcliff, Iowa to Nicoli and Jessie Mork. Gertrude received her bachelor''s degree in education from Mankato State University and a master''s equivalency by attending distinguished universities across the country. She was a 6th grade teacher at Nashwauk, Minnesota for over 42 years as well as a Girl Scouts camp counselor. Gertrude was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church in Kenyon, a V.F.W. Auxiliary member, and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time outdoors. Her travels led her throughout the U.S., Europe and South America. Gertrude enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by her sisters, Norma Thompson of Fort Collins, Colorado and Betty Mork of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Helen Mork of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Lois Mork of Kenyon; 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Truman, Alvin, Carl and John Mork; sister, Jemina; one niece and one nephew. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 3-5 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home Kenyon. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 2:00 PM from Hauge Lutheran Church with Pastor Martin Horn officiating. Interment will be in Kenyon Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Hauge Lutheran Church.
