Gertrude Signora Teigen, 92, of Wanamingo, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born June 19, 1917 in Cherry Grove Township the daughter of Fred and Anna (Overby) Barsness. Gertrude attended country school and later Aggie School in Northfield. She married T. LeRoy Teigen in 1939 at the Holden Church Parsonage. The couple farmed together near Wanamingo for many years. LeRoy preceded her in death in 1973. She was a member of Dale Lutheran Church where she was active in circle and other activities. She volunteered with Hospice and at the Kenyon Sunset Home. Gertrude loved traveling. She had the opportunity to travel to Europe, Japan, Hawaii and the Holy Land. She also enjoyed sewing and baking. She is survived by son, Ross (and Julie) Teigen of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Sarah (and Zachary) West of Gainesville, FL, Liana Teigen of Naples, FL, Jeffrey Teigen of Naples, FL. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; son, Thomas Teigen; brother, Henry Barsness. Visitation will be at Dale Lutheran Church, rural Kenyon on Tuesday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 2pm at Dale Lutheran Church with The Reverend Rell Spickerman officiating. Interment will be in the Dale Lutheran Church Cemetery.
