Obituary

Gladys Rose Bedney, 95, of Owatonna, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born June 11, 1923 in Brainerd the daughter of John and Almyra (Rancour) Dahl. As a child, Gladys was sent to Owatonna to the Minnesota State School Orphanage and later to a foster family to help on their farm. After a challenging start to life, Gladys was able to create a happy and fulfilling life in which she fully invested herself in her family. Gladys married Wallace Hansen and later Sidney Hansen whom preceded her in death in 1972. Gladys spent much of her life caring for people. She worked for various nursing homes and later owned and operated Mineral Springs Board and Lodge. On Sept. 3, 1988, she married Donald Bedney and the couple enjoyed their life on the farm together. Being a farmers wife, spending time with the animals, flowers, birds and wildlife, brought her great joy and happiness. Her grandchildren enjoyed spending time with her on the farm. Gladys enjoyed many adventures traveling and taking special get aways with "her girls." She also enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, playing cards, bingo and trips to the casino. She was known for her wonderful baking and cooking. Gladys was a member of the Eagles and the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Linda (and Dave Reistad) Zvorak of Ellenadale, Sandy (and Mike) Seykora of Owatonna, Jon (and Linda Reichart) Hansen of Edwardsville, IL, Donna (and Bob) Ayers of Owatonna, Jim (and Stacy) Hansen of Owatonna; daughter-in-law, LaDonna Hansen of Hewitt; sister-in-law, Bev Kramer of Minneapolis; 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bedney; son, Loren Hansen; daughter, Judith (and George) Fonner; son-in-law, Todd Zvorak; brothers, John Dahl, Butch Kramer; sister, Alvina Erickson; sister-in-law, Marlene Hansen. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Jim D.
