Gladys Irene Eaker, 88, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Traditions II.
She was born August 13, 1928 in Morristown, Minnesota the daughter of Walter and Natalie (Manske) Villwock. She graduated from Morristown High School in 1946 and attended two years of business school. On October 6, 1961, she married Elsmer Eaker. The couple made their home in Owatonna where they raised their family. Gladys working career included seven years at Owatonna Canning Company, 14 years at OMC, four years at E.F. Johnson, five years at Erdman's Grocery Store and was a cook at the Senior Center for 11 years. She retired in 2004. Gladys was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she ushered for 19 years. She was an unselfish person always putting the needs of others before hers, especially her family. She loved her children and grand children and her great grandchildren were the apple of her eye. Together they enjoyed feeding the ducks and geese. Gladys always made birthdays and holidays special. She kept in close contact with her high school friends and always attended their reunions. When her health began to fail, she moved to Traditions II. She enjoyed playing bingo there and looked forward to Elsmer's daily visits. The couple enjoyed many day trips just driving around the area sight seeing.
She is survived by her husband, Elsmer Eaker of Owatonna; daughters, Judy (Chuck) Gilman of Sacremanto, CA and Lorie Eaker of Plymouth; son-in-law, Gene Weinzetl of Owatonna; three grandchildren, Jessica (Drew) Ernakovich, Hannah (Luke) Anderson and Kelly (Jason) Schwartz; six great grandchildren, Alexis Weinzetl, Gavin Schwartz, Gibson Schwartz, London Schwartz, Clark Ernakovich and Hank Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joan Villwock, Charlie Mollenhauer, Bob and Audrey Bohlman, Mike and Vivian Quast and Jake Simonson, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Jean Mollenhauer and Vickie Weinzetl; sisters, Esther (Don) Hare and Elnora Mollenhauer and brother, Harold Villwock.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Traditions II and Heartland Hospice for the loving care given to Gladys.
Visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 1:00pm with Reverend Dean Smith officiating. Inurnment will be in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna followed by a luncheon at Michaelson Funeral Home.
