Obituary

Gladys M. Mund 93, of Kenyon, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born March 2, 1917 in Richland Township, Minnesota the daughter of Christian and Emelia (Mahlman) Mund. Gladys attended rural schools in Goodhue and Rice County, and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1934. She then attended teacher training school and taught rural schools in Rice and Goodhue County. She later worked at District I Hospital in Faribault, and for Dr. Moses in Kenyon at the medical office and then for Dr. Hiner at the Kenyon dentist office. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she held various offices, was a youth leader, taught Sunday school, United Methodist Women, and was a member of the Esther Circle. Gladys volunteered her time at the Kenyon Sunset Home and the Third World Friends Store. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, flowers, and gardening. She is survived by many relatives and friends, and a special friend Dale and his wife Wendy Fredrickson of White Bear Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Irene Mund, and an infant brother. Visitation will be at the United Methodist Church/Kenyon on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM at United Methodist Church/Kenyon with Pastor Dana Houck officiating. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church. Michaelson Funeral Home of Kenyon is handling arrangements.
