Gladys Bertina Neseth, 88, of Kenyon, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born March 14, 1921 in Peever, South Dakota the daughter of Edmond and Sarah (Jordahl) Hanson. Gladys married Benjamin Neseth June 30, 1939. The couple farmed together for 30 years before moving to Northfield in 1973. Gladys worked for St. Olaf College from 1966-1986 in food services. She was a cook, head cook and at the time of her retirement she was supervisor of the food service department. In 1985 she moved to Cannon Falls where she lived until moving to Kenyon Sunset Home in 2009. She enjoyed wintering in Arizona after her retirement. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the time spent as a member of the Homemakers Club. Gladys had a green thumb that showed with her large garden and many plants that she grew. She enjoyed time with her family, camping and swimming. Gladys crocheted many Afghans for her family. She loved decorating cakes and made several for weddings and other special occasions. Gladys is survived by daughter, Sharon (and Orv) Kappedahl of Randolph; grandchildren, Clay (and Mina) Kappedahl of Farmington, Lynn (and Kerry) Quam of Eagan, Jodi (and Steve) McCombs of Apple Valley, Melissa (and Jed) Post of Randolph, Rhonda Liberty of Mesa, AZ, Brett (and Shawnna) Neseth of Phoenix, AZ; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Adeline Lindell of Cannon Falls; brothers, Clarence (and Florence) Hanson of Rosemount, Duane (and Oney) Hanson of Lake Mills, IA, Robert (and Charlotte) Hanson of Hutchinson; sister-in-laws, Elaine Hanson of Kenyon, Jeanette (and Mike) Sisserle of Richfield and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; sons, Gary and Bernard; daughter-in-law, Julie; brothers Johnny and Gordon; brother-in-law, Willard. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Kenyon on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 4pm to 8pm and at Grace Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 11:00am at Grace Lutheran Church in Nerstrand with Pastor Judy Gustafson officiating. Interment will be in the Little Cannon Cemetery.
