Gladys Elaine Steuernagel, 91, of Woodbury, formerly of Owatonna died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at her residence. Gladys Elaine Schmidt was born November 15, 1924 in Altura, Minnesota the daughter of Fred & Elma (Erickson) Schmidt. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1942. On March 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Eldon Steuernagel at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston. In 1953, they moved to Owatonna where they spent most of their married life. In 2012, they moved to the Twin Cities to be closer to their children. Gladys was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna and the 50's Club. She enjoyed biking, cross country skiing, knitting and was known as the Lefse Lady. Gladys and Eldon also enjoyed attending the various church dinners in the Steele County area. She is survived by her husband, Eldon Steuernagel of Woodbury; children, Bruce (Pat) Steuernagel, Heidi Thorstenson and Kristi (Tom) Sullivan; grandchildren, Brad, Jeff (Robyn), Maren and Karli and great-grandsons, Owen and Eliott and sister, Sheila Mueller. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Arlene Schlinkert. Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the church. A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm Friday, October 21, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna with Reverend Todd Buegler officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
