Gladys J. Swenson, 90, of Wanamingo, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1920 in Skyberg the daughter of John and Anna (Kvittem) Broin. Gladys married Kermit 'Bud' Swenson April 21, 1945. The couple farmed together for many years. They moved from their farm to Wanamingo in 1998. Gladys was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Aspelund. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking. She went out of her way to make others happy. Gladys is survived by her brother, Arnold Broin of Red Wing; sister, Stella Anderson; sister-in-law, Millie Broin of Byron; nephews and nieces, Pat (and Marv) Johnson, David (and Sherry) Broin, Sheryl (and David) Hill, Gail Kayfes, Randy Anderson, Denise (and Jeff) Bishop, DeAnn (and Jeff) Boe. Gladys is also survived by numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; sons, Larry Swenson, Steven Swenson; brothers, Roy Broin, Leslie Orlando Broin; brother-in-laws, Andy Anderson, Benny Lexvold; sister-in-laws, Lorraine (Mrs. Roy) Broin, Evelyn Lexvold, Lorraine (Mrs. Arnold) Broin. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Aspelund on Friday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at 2pm at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Aspelund with The Reverend Martin Horn officiating. Interment will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
