Gladys Wavrin, 93, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the Owatonna Hospital. She was born August 31, 1926 in Steele County, Minnesota the daughter of Emil and Libbie (Kovar) Wavrin. She graduated from Owatonna High School, Class of 1943. She was employed at Owatonna Public Utilities from 1948 until her retirement in 1986. Gladys was a life member of the Historical Society and the Hospital Auxiliary. In retirement, she was the "model volunteer". She volunteered with the food shelf, eye and hearing testing in the elementary school system, organized many bloodmobile events and photography at the Steele County Free Fair. She is survived by her close friends, Jon and Darla Ferch of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Libbie; brother, Elmer Wavrin and sister, Ramah Wavrin. At Gladys' request, no funeral services will be held. A private burial will take place at Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna.
