Obituary

Glen E. Giesler, 64, of Morristown, died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the Owatonna Hospital. Glen was born October 25, 1949 in Dodge Center, Minnesota the son of Grove and Louise (Johnson) Giesler. He was raised in Dodge Center and there attended school graduating in 1968. He then worked for a short time in Kenyon before moving to Owatonna where he began working for OMC. He was united in marriage to Patricia Deming on October 4, 1975 at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna. After OMC closed, Glen began working for Gandy's and continued there until his retirement. Glen enjoyed fishing, mostly bass fishing, and traveled to Wisconsin at Long Lake. He also enjoyed deer hunting. Glen worked on cars and was self taught or else learned from his dad. He loved living in the country and always kept busy with yard work, moving rock, landscaping or just enjoying the outdoors. Even though he retired, he did miss the work and working with his co-workers. Other hobbies that Glen took up were replicating onion crates and flying remote control helicopters. Glen was an active member at St. John Lutheran Church and always there to help. He served on the group for communion and was also an usher. He served on the Christian Service Committee and was an honorary altar guild member. He is survived by his wife Patricia Giesler of Morristown; three brothers, Clifford (and Darlene) Giesler of San Diego, CA; Leonard (and Opel) Giesler of Rochester; LeRoy (and Karen) Giesler of St. Peter; his mother-in-law, LaDonna Deming of Faribault; his brother-in-laws, Terry Lammers of Owatonna; Don Lee of Claremont; Perry (and friend, Traudy Nordine) Deming of Faribault; sister-in-law, Barb (and Denny) Meier of Mankato; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Louise Lee and Julie Lammers and his father-in-law, Keith Deming. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.
