Obituary

Glen B. Schuelke, age 99, and life long resident of Owatonna, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Koda Living Community. Glen was born July 4, 1915 on the family farm in Owatonna Township, Minnesota the son of Benjamin and Alma (Sette) Schuelke. Here he was raised and attended school. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Gale on November 9, 1947 in Dodge Center. The couple dairy farmed and raised hogs. In 1995 they moved to Owatonna. Evelyn died August 3, 2000. He was very active as an adult leader in 4H and was also involved with the Holstein Association. He was always learning about new techniques in farming by attending classes, studying or reading trade magazines. Even though he loved farming, Glen had a real interest in the soil. He was a progressive farmer and actually considered a career in Soil Conservation. He served on the District 24 school board and taught Sunday school to 4th graders with Evelyn. Glen also served on the church council and on the Board of Trustees at Associated Church. Glen and Evelyn enjoyed traveling to Texas in the winter months. He is survived by two daughters, Glenda Schuelke of Hopkins; Ruth (and Bruce) Paulson of Northfield; two grandchildren, Heather (and Brian) Velde of Woodlake; Nick Paulson of Chetak, WI; and two great grandchildren, Morgan and Kendra Velde. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, his parents and a sister, Beatrice Sampson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Jim Oberg officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
