Obituary

Glen James Stoltz, 70, of Owatonna, died Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Glen was born June 8, 1944 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Henry and Laura (Kruesel) Stoltz. Glen was a 1963 graduate of Owatonna High School where he excelled and lettered in baseball, track and field, basketball, and football. He received recognition for his football career at Owatonna including being selected for the 1962 Star and Tribune All State Football Team and Owatonna All Century Football Team. He continued his education and football career at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton until a knee injury ended his football career. Glen married Sandy Meixner on March 15, 1969. In their union they had three children, John, Amy, and Alicia. Glen and Sandy later divorced. Glen farmed alongside his brother, Art, in Lemond Township. While farming, he also worked at various jobs including Hope Creamery, Hormel in Austin and Viracon for 17 years until 2007 when he retired due to poor health. In 2015, Glen retired from farming. In his younger years, Glen enjoyed bowling and playing softball. In his later years he watched NASCAR, and all Minnesota sports. Glen also enjoyed touring the countryside, having coffee with friends, and playing bingo in Geneva. Glen loved his family and was his grandchildren's #1 fan. He is survived by his children, John Stoltz (Michelle Hecker) of Owatonna, Amy Stoltz (Brett Forcelle) of Owatonna, and Alicia (Chris) Hermes of Medford; seven grandchildren, Chase and Wynn Stoltz, Anna, Michael, and Riley Forcelle, Gavin and Tate Hermes; brother, Art Stoltz of Owatonna; sister, Wilma Haberman of Ellendale; brother-in-law, Robert Weber of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Barbara Stoltz of Rochester; many extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Gloria Schuler and Jean Weber, brothers, Eldon and Paul Stoltz; brothers-in-law, Ken Schuler and Eugene Sleepy Haberman. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 12 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Steele Center Cemetery.
