Glenn Burleigh Benson, 88, of Kenyon, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Kenyon Sunset Home. Glenn was born February 24, 1925 in Richland Township, the son of Carl and Esther (Gunhus) Benson. He attended Rural School District 80 and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1942. He worked with his father and brother on the farm while also working outside the farm laying carpet. He attended Dunwoody Institute for a year but had to return home after his brother went into the service. Glenn served in the Army from 1945-1947. He continued farming with this brother until retirement. Glenn enjoyed fishing and watching sports on the television. He was also an excellent cook and baker, learning from his mother. Glenn was a life member of the Kenyon VFW and Gol Lutheran Church. Glenn is survived by his brother, Lavern (and Jean) Benson of Kenyon; nieces, Linda Germundson, Sue (Dan) Battcher, Lorna (John) Van Kirk, Paula (Travis Way) Germundson; nephew, Jay (Kathy) Germundson. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edna (Sanford) Germundson, Marian Benson; nephew, Randall Germundson. Visitation will be at Gol Lutheran Church on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Gol Lutheran Church with Pastor Marvin Kormann officiating. Interment will be in the Gol Lutheran Cemetery in Kenyon. Memorials are preferred to Gol Lutheran Church.
