Gordon Alvin Fretham, 90, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, December 24 at the Homestead Hospice House.
Gordon was born October 13, 1924 in Waseca County, the son of Andrew and Gena (Loken) Fretham. He graduated from Waseca High School in 1943. He served in the U. S. Army in the Philippians and Japan. On December 3, 1946, he married Jean Nelson at the North Waseca Lutheran Church. Jean died in December 1995. On August 26, 2006, Gordon married Mary Larson. He was a part owner of Fretham Brothers Excavating until he retired. He then drove bus for the Owatonna School Bus Company and Faribault Transit Bus Company.
He was involved with Land Improvement Contractors of America (LICA) and was the President of the Minnesota Chapter and also President of the National Organization. He was actively involved with his Churches over the years and enjoyed family and friends, golf, horseshoes, fishing and playing cards.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Pastor David (and Darlene) Fretham, Springfield, MN; two daughters, Beth Anne (and Doug) Brown, Ingleside, IL, and Esther Nelson, Chicago IL; four brothers, Ludwig (and Chris) Waseca, Melford (and Dorothy) Medford, Ellsworth (and Jayn) Excelsior, Orville (and Gwen) Santan Valley, AZ; two sisters, Clarice Krause (and Richard) Waseca and Helen Nolte, Marysville, WA; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four step-sons, two step-daughters, nine step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean and sister, Ilene Fretham.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held December 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Dean Smith officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church and the Homestead Hospice House.
