Obituary

Gordon "Gordy" D. Butterfield, 88, of West Concord, died of natural causes Friday, July 10, 2020, at Chicos Board and Lodge in West Concord. He was born on May 9, 1932, in Faribault, the son of Danford and Hazel (Shook) Butterfield. Gordy attended school in Faribault. On September 19, 1951 he entered into the United Stated Navy and was honorably discharged on September 12, 1955. He married Lois A. Reuvers on August 16, 1957 in Faribault. The couple moved to West Concord that same year. Gordy was a milk hauler for a few years before he began working for the Faribault State School in the maintenance department. He was an avid sports fan especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Gordy enjoyed bowling, playing cards and fishing including trips with his friends. He appreciated going on the annual family trip up north with his family. Gordy was a member of the American Legion Post #295 in West Concord. He is survived by his daughters, Joan (Kevin) Kubacki of Muskego, WI, Judy (Dan) Hutton of West Concord, Laurie (Steven) Wampler of Rochester, Beth (Steven) McCool of Kasson; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Gordy was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Butterfield who died on August 30, 2019; daughter; Jeannine Kiel; three brothers and three sisters. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Memorials are preferred to the American Legion Post #295 in West Concord or to the donor's choice. Gordy's family is requiring masks for everyone attending the services.
