Gordon Alfred Schroeder, 70, of Owatonna, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at his home. He was born August 14, 1942 in New Richland, Minnesota the son of Alfred and Anna (Suemnick) Schroeder. Gordon attended rural country school and then graduated from New Richland High School in 1957. Gordon worked in the Milwaukee area for a tree service trimming trees. Gordon was united in marriage to Sandy Dudek August 24, 1963 in Milwaukee. He started working at Federated Insurance in 1967 retiring after thirty three years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. With Gordon's love and knowledge of trimming trees he continued that work in his spare time saying it was for fun and relaxation. Gordon also enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, playing cards, and especially being with his grandchildren and family. Gordon was the type of man who would help anyone and not expect anything in return. He is survived by his wife Sandy Schroeder of Owatonna, children Greg (Kristin) Schroeder of Owatonna, Karen (Steve) Schleicher of Oakdale, and Paul Schroeder of Winsted, four grandchildren Julia, William, Cole, and Grace, and one sister Rosalie Gehring of Waseca. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother in law Orville Gehring, brother in law Harry Dudek, and nephew Davie Gehring. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday January 9, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Peter Strommen officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
