Guadalupe G. Perez, 80, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna.
She was born July 14, 1938 in Harlingen, Texas the daughter of Raphael and Inez (Gonzales) Garcia, Sr.. She grew up in Harlingen where she attended school through the ninth grade. As a migrant worker, she moved around the United States working mostly in Texas and Michigan. In 1972, she met the love of her life, Jesus Flores. The couple spent 15 years together before Jesus' death.
Guadalupe loved cooking. She made the best flour tortillas. She also loved music and dancing. She was often the life of the party and was always happy. In 1987, she moved to Minnesota, settling in Blooming Prairie and later moving to Owatonna where she lived for 25 years.
She is survived by children, Larry Perez of Immokalee, FL, Ralph (and Silvia) Perez of Oklahoma, Maria (and Manuel) Soto of Immokalee, Cecilia (and Jesse) Garza of Claremont, Mike Munoz of Michigan, Peter Munoz of Texas, Juana (and Gerardo) Paramo of Faribault, Hilda (and Johnny) Nieves of Immokalee, Bobby (and Elodia) Munoz of Faribault and Apolinar (and Anna) Munoz of Faribault; sisters, Elva Saldana and Susie Deleon both of Texas; 45 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raphael, Sr. and Inez; husband, Jesus Flores; daughter and son-in-law, Rosa Perez and Jose Herrera; granddaughter, Daniella Herrera; great-grandson, Brandon Garza; brother, Raphael Garcia, Jr. and sister, Elena Zuniga.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, April 14th from 4-7pm and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna on Monday from 10-11am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 15, 2019, at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna with Father James Starasinich officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
