Gwendolyn L. Rasmussen, 100, of Owatonna, Minnesota died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Cedarview Care Center in Owatonna surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 30, 1911 in Lemond Township, Minnesota the daughter of Elmer and Elsie (Schuster) Bailey. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1928. She married Harvey Rasmussen and they farmed in Lemond Township. Gwen worked at Speltz Grain Company and Steele Oil Company in Hope. She then worked as the assistant Postmaster in Hope for over 17 years. After her retirement, she worked at the Elk''s Club in Owatonna. Gwen''s family was the most important blessing in her life. She also loved being involved with anything that involved other people, friends, and putting smiles on children faces. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hope, where she played piano and organ. She was also active in the Sunday School Program, and especially liked helping with the children''s Christmas program. Gwen was involved in 4-H and card clubs and enjoyed playing cards with her family. She was an avid Cubs fan that later led her to never miss watching a Twins game. She attended many county fairs and a yearly trip to the Minnesota State Fair were on her must do list. She thoroughly enjoyed a chance to see friends and children. She is survived by her son, Jerry (and Sandy) Rasmussen of Owatonna; niece, Zetty Claire (and David) Nelson of Owatonna; many extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harvey (1964), brother, Raymond Bailey, and nephew, Raymond Bailey, Jr. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at First Lutheran Church, Hope on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, Hope with The Reverend Sandy Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Hope or Cedarview Care Center.
