A memorial service for Harland Musgjerd Foss will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon with Pastor Luther Mathsen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A private burial will be at the Holden Lutheran Church cemetery. Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon is in charge of arrangements. Harland 'Hardy' Foss, age 85 of Kenyon, died on Wednesday morning October 15 at St. Mary''s hospital in Rochester. He was born on December 23, 1922 to Halbert and Inga (Musgjerd) Foss. The second of five children, Hardy was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Hardy married Cecelia Monson on October 6, 1944. Together they raised three children: James, Russell, and Lynda. Hardy worked his entire life owning his own milk route, working in sales for Blaine Baird Silo Company of Cannon Falls, and Farming. Hardy enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was an avid sports fan, and loved to polka. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Cecelia 'Ceal' Foss. One son; Russell (Jeanne) Foss of Kenyon, one daughter; Lynda Kinney of Santa Barbara, CA; seven grandchildren: Deborah (Keith) Quam of Kenyon; Angela Fredrickson of Zumbrota; Dustin Foss of Brainerd; Matthew Foss of Kenyon; Bryan (Tana) Foss of Otis Orchards, WA; Kara (Dan) Mendes of Burien, WA; and Loren Foss of East Wenatchee, WA. Five great grandchildren: Nathan, Brandon, and Megan Quam of Kenyon; Carly and Broc Fredrickson of Zumbrota. One sister: Marilyn Schaper of Kenyon. Two sister-in-laws: Shirley Foss of Cannon Falls and Hazel Solberg of Kenyon, many nieces and nephews. His son James 'Jimbo' Foss, his parents, and his sisters precede him in death: Carol Hellrud and LaVonne Lund, and his brother, LeRoy Foss.
