Harold D. Bauer, 78, of Rochester formerly of rural Nerstrand died Monday, March 22, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born March 11, 1932 in Rice County, Minnesota the son of Lawrence and Leona (Borchardt) Bauer. Harold graduated from Kenyon High School in 1952 where he participated in baseball, basketball, and football. He married Yvonne Hildebrandt on October 19, 1957 at Gol Lutheran in Kenyon. Together the couple farmed near Nerstrand, and moved to Rochester ten years ago. Harold was a member of the Wheeling Town Board. He enjoyed watching sports, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Yvonne Bauer of Rochester, daughters, Cindy (and Joe) Petricka of Faribault, Candace (and Paul) Thielen of Monticello, Charise (and Joe) Brock of Rochester, and nine grandchildren. Harold is also survived by two sisters, Hazel Quam, Hope (and Del) Hedtke, and seven brothers Henry (Runice) Bauer, Homer (Jan) Bauer, Haven (Judy) Bauer, Helmer Bauer, Harris (Gert) Bauer, Harlow (Margaret) Bauer, Herschel (Lois) Bauer. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Harriet Bauer. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Thursday from 4-7 PM and at the Nerstrand United Methodist Church on Friday one hour prior to the funeral. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at Nerstrand United Methodist Church with Reverend Lora Sturm officiating. Interment will be in the Nerstrand Evangelical Cemetery in Wheeling Township.
