Harold Sylvester Kanne, 88, of Deerfield Township, Steele County, Minnesota died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Harold was born December 12, 1927 in Deerfield Township, Minnesota the son of Irven and Anna (Reineke) Kanne. He attended country school and Medford High School. He soon left school to help on the family farm when his brother, Lester, died while in the service. Harold married Faye McColley on September 1, 1956 at the Blooming Grove United Methodist Church. They resided on the Kanne family farm where they farmed and raised their children. Harold loved his family, farming, and music. He played the piano and accordion by ear. Harold served as Deerfield Township Treasurer for 35 years, Blooming Grove Cemetery Board for many years, and was an active member of Blooming Grove United Methodist Church, serving as trustee and in many other capacities. He is survived by his wife, Faye Kanne of Deerfield Township; three children, Brian (Carolyn) Kanne of Medford, LeAnn Kanne of Byron, and David (Jennifer) Kanne of Winona; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Joshua, and Samuel Kanne of Winona, Deanna and Michael Kanne of Medford; sister-in-law, Darlene Zander of Burnsville; nieces, Sharon (Brad) Heywood of Lakeville and Marcia Kanne of Peshtigo, WI; two nephews, Scott (Karen) Zander of Mequon, WI and Craig (Leslie) Zander of Lakeville. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lester; brother and sister-in-law, Corwin and Carol Kanne; brother-in-law, Donald Zander; nephew Larry Kanne. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church with The Reverend Cindy Kennedy officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Grove Cemetery in Blooming Grove Township, Waseca County. Memorials are preferred to Blooming Grove United Methodist Church Restoration Fund, Homestead Hospice House, or donor's choice.
