Harriet A. Nelson 91, of Owatonna, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born August 19, 1921 in Havana Township, Minnesota the daughter of Ernest and Helen (Broin) Pichner. Harriet attended country school in Havana Township. She married Lowell Nelson on November 12, 1941 at St. John Lutheran Church and the couple farmed together for many years. Harriet also worked at Duffy's grocery store for many years. The couple moved into Owatonna in 2001 and Lowell died in 2009. Harriet was a member of St. John Lutheran Church; she enjoyed gardening, old time music, dancing, snowmobiling, and camping. She is survived by her son Gary (Marcia) Nelson of Owatonna, daughter-in-law Jackie Nelson of Owatonna, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and her brother Ernest Pichner of Claremont. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lowell, son Dale, brother Jim Pichner, two sisters Marjorie Pichner and Mae Johnson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday March 15, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, Homestead Hospice House or the donor''s choice.
