Haven Dean Asprey, 87, of West Concord, died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center. He was born December 12, 1925 in Wasioja Township, Dodge County, Minnesota the son of Perry and Leona (Kirkland) Asprey. He was a graduate of West Concord High School. He entered the United States Army on July 19, 1944 and was stationed in the Philippines until his honorable discharge on August 19, 1946. After the service, he returned to the area and began farming. He married Ramona Bartel on March 30, 1955 at the Pleasant Corners Methodist Church in rural Kasson. They lived in rural Kasson then moved to the home farm in rural West Concord. They later moved into town and Haven continued to farm. In 1990, he retired from farming. He was an active member of Faith Community Church, where he served as Deacon and taught Sunday school. Family was most important to Haven and he enjoyed many softball games cheering on his children and grandchildren. He was a cat fanatic, enjoyed playing table tennis, and watching sports and westerns on television. He is survived by his wife Ramona Asprey of West Concord; three sons, Garth (and Janet) Asprey of Dodge Center, Kevin (and Reeny) Asprey of Hayfield, and David (and Jill) Asprey of Solon, IA; daughter-in-law, Ann (and Randy) Asprey-Erdmann of Mantorville; fourteen grandchildren, Katie Asprey, Karen (and Peter) Evans, and Charlie Asprey, Cynthia and Keanna Asprey, Laura, Nolan, and Caleb Asprey, Walker, Hannah, Wesley, and Sarah Asprey, and Brady and Ryan Erdmann; two great grandchildren, Johnathan and Jakob Evans; sister, Lorraine Larson of Rochester, sister-in-law, Mary Asprey of Dodge Center; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Randy, sister, Gertrude, and brother, Lawrence. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Faith Community Church on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM . Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Faith Community Church with David Breederland officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson.
