Obituary

Hazel Geraldine (Scram) Pichner passed away March 6 2009. She was born January 17, 1910 in Owatonna on the Jr. Morley home farm. Daughter of LeRoy and Alice (Morley) Scram. Graduated from Owatonna High School in 1928. Graduated from teacher training in 1932. Married Fred Pichner (whom Hazel met while she was teaching at District 24) and married in June 1936. They farmed in rural Owatonna until retirement. She taught in 2 Steele county rural schools (districts 24 and 32). In later years she was employed at the Owatonna City Hospital Dietary Department and the Owatonna Country Club food service. She was a member of the associated church since 1924. Taught Sunday school, was active, and held offices in many church activities. Hazel was active in CSA Lodge (charter member), Owatonna Hospital auxiliary (charter member), Literary Club (charter member), 4-H club leader, Tops, OES, and was active in many other organizations and clubs. Her hobbies were walking, reading, cooking/baking and going to fairs. She had many collections and loved old-time music. Survived by daughter Rose (Bill) Ferguson, Son Jerome, 7 Grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 sister-in-laws. Proceeded in death by husband, parents, 2 brothers, great granddaughter, 4 sister-in-laws, and 5 brother-in-laws. Community service was important to Hazel. Hazel was a loving, loyal, and dedicated wife, mother, and a very proud grandmother and great grandmother. Hazel was a friend to everybody. Visitation will be Sunday March 15 from 2-4 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral will be 10 AM Monday March 16 at Associated Church with Reverend Ronald D. Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
