Hazel G. Soufal Bowman, 96, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Faribault Senior Living. She was born July 20, 1917 in Meriden Township, Minnesota the daughter of Henry and Mollie (Sexter) Nelson. Hazel attended Steele County Public Schools. She married Robert Soufal September 12, 1939 and Hazel was a farm wife until moving to Owatonna in 1967 and Robert later died in 1968. She worked at Josten's for twelve years. Hazel married Robert Bowman on June 26, 1976, and the couple went on many beautiful trips together, he died in 2008. She enjoyed family gatherings, and all grand and great grandchildren. She loved to cook and sew and doing crafts making dolls, animals, and clowns. She was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughter Carol (Jack) Weinberger of Faribault, son in law Don Winter of Owatonna, eight grandchildren Laurie (Terry) Johnson, Jackie O''Donnell, Dawn Jacobson, Bob (Sue) Weinberger, Dan (Deb) Weinberger, Krista (Josh) Alexander, Tara (Dave) Polzin, Corey (Kimberly) Winter, and fifteen great grandchildren Taylor, Kaylee, Casey, Connor, Cassidy, Luke, Payten, Morgan, Paige, Owen, Asher, Lanaya, Samuel, Crosley, and Claire. She is also survived by two sisters Lorraine Aldahl of Onalaska, WI, and Lois Oeltjenbruns of Owatonna, step children Robert Bowman of Rochester and Linda (Earl) Butenhoff of Owatonna and two step grandchildren Erik and Brent Eschenbach. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Robert Soufal and Robert Bowman, daughter Judy Winter, and brother Lowell Nelson, and three sisters Mildred Nelson, Leona Jackson, and Shirley Oas. Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday February 22, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church-Owatonna with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
