Helen L. Davis, Northridge Care Center, New Hope, MN, formerly of Owatonna, died Friday, February 6 at Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park, MN. She was 88. Helen Holmes was born Sept. 13, 1920 in Owatonna to W.B. and Grace Holmes. She graduated from Owatonna High School. On June 16, 1940, she married Sidney W. Davis at her parent''s home in Owatonna. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Roseland, N.J. until 1945, at which time they returned to Owatonna. In 1959 they purchased the Green''s Market. They operated the business as Davis Market until 1969 when it was sold to the Adam''s family. Helen and Sid both enjoyed bowling and sponsored numerous bowling teams during their years at the market. After selling their grocery business Helen was employed by Farmer''s Insurance. She retired in 1985. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.B. and Grace Holmes and her husband, Sidney W. Davis. She is survived by a son, Bill (Janice) Davis of Ottertail, MN., a daughter, Sue (Patrick) Kenevan, Brooklyn Park, four grandchildren, Jeff (Paula) Davis, Richelle (Mike) Erickson, Nichole (Dave) Zack and Mike Kenevan and 6 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 9 at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Road, Owatonna. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 8 and an hour before the service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or to the donor''s choice.
