Helen Mary Jensen, 93, of Claremont, died Friday, May 9, 2014 at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
She was born February 17, 1921 in rural Claremont, Dodge County, Minnesota the daughter of Lisle and Mary (Matzke) Lewis. She attended country school. She married Lloyd Whitey Jensen on December 22, 1941 in Owatonna. They lived in Geneva and later moved with the family to their home in Claremont. Helen and Lloyd owned and operated Jensen''s Market in Claremont for 3 years. Helen also worked at Owatonna Canning Company for 21 years.
Helen''s pride and joy was her children and grandchildren. She also loved her dog, Pippa. She was an excellent cook and especially loved baking pies. She would make sure there was always something to eat and no one ever left hungry. Throughout the years, Helen and Lloyd liked to travel, attend fairs, and go to the casino. In her later years, television was important to her. Helen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Claremont for many years.
She is survived by her four daughters, Mona Kruckeberg of Owatonna, Sandra (and Mike) Clark of Claremont, Carol (and Bruce) Bigelow of Rochester, and Pam Jensen of Claremont; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 25 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd Jensen, daughter, Judy Jensen Quaale, two great great grandchildren, three brothers, and three sisters.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM . Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Laurene LaFontaine officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Claremont. Memorials are preferred to donor''s choice.
