It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother, Helen Margaret Sahl, who passed away peacefully in the comfort of family and friends on September 3, 2012, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. Helen was the daughter of Henry and Selma (Schroeder) Keck of Claremont, MN. She grew up on the family farm and went to school in Claremont. After graduating high school she pursued a career as a teacher. She married Donald Sahl in 1949 and was blessed with two children, Mary Jane and David. They made their home in Kenyon, where Helen was involved in numerous church, school and community activities. She enjoyed baking gardening, golfing, traveling, but most of all spending time with her family. Our mother lived life to the fullest. Her sense of humor and kind heart gave joy and comfort to everyone who knew her. Our mother dedicated her life to teaching children and us. She taught us to be adventurous and outgoing in life, to be determined and stand for what you believe in. Her faith in God and her love for all His children made the lives she touched far richer for her presence. Helen lived a wonderful life, and because of her so have we all. She will be greatly missed by her loving family: husband Donald Sahl; daughter Mary Jane Sahl (Mark Forsberg); son, David (and Mary) Sahl; brothers, Lester, Ronald Keck; sisters, Delores Jenson, Bernice Jystad, Barbara Lennon, Mary Ann Yocum, grandchildren Emily, Kariann, Jacob Sahl, Benjamin, William Forsberg. Greatly mourning her passing too are her special nieces and nephews, and their families, that she loved like her own children; Mike (and Joan) Sahl, Linda (Sahl) and Larry Bennett, Julie (Sahl) and Mark Huseth, Tom Sahl (and Linnea), Terry (and Jackie) Sahl, Danny Jystad. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Marvin, Kenneth, Earl Keck; sister, Marlene Keck.
