Obituary

Helen Elizabeth Stoos, 100, of Owatonna, died Monday, October 14, 2013 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born November 10, 1912 in Faribault the daughter of Eugene and Edna Wemple. Helen graduated from Faribault High School. She continued her education with Normal Training to be a teacher. She taught country school until she was married. Helen married Elsworth Stoos Nov. 21, 1937 in Mankato. The couple operated the Owatonna Canning Co. farm in Steele County for three years before renting farms and finally purchasing a farm north of Owatonna. They farmed together until 1984. While farming, Helen also worked briefly as a maid at the InTown Hotel and also at Cedarview Care Center. Helen was a member of Northridge Church. She enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. She is survived by her daughters, Carol McColley of Richfield, Sharon (and Martin) Casey of Sterling, VA; son, Jerrold (and Kaisu) Stoos of Owatonna; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 brother and 1 sister. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm. Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 2pm at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault with Pastor Mark Perryman officiating.
