Helen S. Stursa, 82, of Owatonna, died Friday, December 11, 2009 at Owatonna Hospital. Helen was born May 20, 1927 in Steele County, Minnesota the daughter of Jay and Mary (Pavek) Spinler Sr. She was united in marriage to Charles Stursa on December 6, 1944 at the Associated Church in Owatonna. They made their home near Owatonna and she worked for Hyline Hatchery. Helen enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States, Hawaii, Mexico and the Bahamas. She also enjoyed listening to old time music, playing bingo, planting flower and vegetable gardens, canning, cooking and baking in her earlier years and especially being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen was a member of the W.F.L.A. Lodge #127 (formerly known as the Z.C.B.J. Lodge), member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3723 and American Legion Auxiliary over 40 years. Charles died in 2004 and later Helen moved to Cedarview Care Center. She is survived by her son, David Stursa of Medford; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Stursa of Owatonna; her grandsons, Scott Stursa of New York; Jason Stursa of Brooklyn Park; and Chad (and Melissa) Stursa of Owatonna; her great grandsons, Tyler, Cohen and Drake Stursa of Owatonna; a sister, Anna Schwartz of Owatonna; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Lloyd Stursa; a daughter-in-law Sandi Stursa, her parents, five sisters and seven brothers. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 15 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 15 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Spinler officiating. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer''s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington DC, 20090-6011 or donor''s choice.
