Helen J. White, 94, of Owatonna, died on Sunday January 28, 2024 , at Benedictine Living Community.

Helen was born the daughter of Herbert and Mildred (Anderson) Fette, on November 25, 1929, in Meriden. They moved to various cities and back to Meriden before finally moving to Owatonna in 1942. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1948 She enlisted in the US Army on April 1, 1949 and served at Ft. Lee Virginia from April 1949 to September 1951. She was married to Chester White on May 20, 1956, at St. John Lutheran inn Owatonna. She was then stationed at USAG Hessen Army Garrison in Germany from September 1951 until September 1952. She was discharged but, re-enlisted in 1953. Helen was stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas and served until 1957. She worked at various jobs including, Roxy Theatre, Sears and Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado and the Denver Museum of Natural History. She enjoyed word finds, puzzles, canning and watching westerns. She could be considered the Yahtzee Queen , achieving 4Yahtzees in one game and a total score of 633.

She is survived by her children Gary White of Colorado Springs and Julia (Bryan) Anderson of Owatonna; grandchildren Syndey White, Ashley (Jared) Ferk, Hannah Anderson (Jordan Saukkola), Mariana (William) Bernard; great grandchildren Louis, Gabrielle, Elijah, Vincent, Fiona, Sonora and Killian, sister Patricia (Francis) Deml, brother Richard (Joyce) Fette, many nieces and nephews and her "bestest buddy" Bubba. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester, grandson Tyler William Anderson, sisters Lorraine (Don) Gregor, Barbara (Clayton) Anderson.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 2, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Owatonna Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
