Helene Thorager, 91, of Blooming Prairie, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Owatonna Hospital. Mary Helene Peterson was born August 11, 1917 on the family farm in Blooming Prairie Township the daughter of Hans and Alice (Hansen) Peterson. She attended rural school District 93 and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School with the class of 1934. Helene married Ernest Thorager Nov. 27, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blooming Prairie Township. Helene was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She also sang in the choir and later played organ for services. She played organ for the church from 1934 until retiring in 2002. After her marriage she was active in the ladies organization helping with quilting and crocheting mittens for the needy. She is survived by daughter, Judy (and Stan) Gilman of Owatonna; son, Paul (and Ruth) Thorager of Owatonna; 7 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Helene was preceded in death by her husband, 3 great grandchildren, sister and an infant brother. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7pm and at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie Township on Thursday from 12:30-1:30pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1:30pm at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Paul Nelson officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Blooming Prairie Township.
