Henry Joseph Winzenburg, 83, of Owatonna, died Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Traditions II in Owatonna
He was born January 12, 1937 in Freeborn County, Minnesota the son of Merrill and Annette (Peterson) Winzenburg. He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1955. He continued his education at Mankato State earning a teaching degree in 1959. During the summers before college graduation, he worked at the canning company in Owatonna and Ulland Construction in Lansing. After college, he taught one year in Randolph. While in the National Guards, he was offered a teaching position teaching the children of military personnel. He taught in Germany and Okinawa and then began his career in the airlines. He worked for Western Airlines in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. He took early retirement when Delta purchased Western Airlines and began working in golf course maintenance. He ended his work career driving shuttle for Delta Airlines, transporting pilots and crew from the airport to hotels and back.
Henry was an avid golfer and loved watching sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings.
He is survived by brothers, Edward (and Jackie) Winzenburg of Owatonna and George (and Sandy) Winzenburg of Blooming Prairie; brother-in-law, Donald Hoium of Rochester; sister-in-law, Lois Winzenburg of Owatonna and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and Annette; and siblings, Betty (Norbert) Good, Merilyn Hoium, Anita (Frank) Earl, Kenneth Winzenburg and Alice (Jerry) Bonaté.
A Memorial Service will be held October 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in St. Aiden's Cemetery in Bath.
Memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice or Traditions II.
