Herbert Herb G. Rand, 88 of Claremont, MN passed away peacefully Monday, August 21st, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota surrounded by family. Herbert G. Rand was born July 1st, 1929 near Claremont, MN. He was the son of John and Vida (Gorham) Rand. Herbert was raised and attended school in Claremont, graduating in 1947. Herbert was united in marriage to Betty J. Hallaway on July 15th, 1949. They settled in Ripley Township where they farmed; milking cows, raising pigs and beef cattle, and grew corn, soybeans and oats. After retirement, Herbert enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, doing puzzles, reading farm related material, going to farm shows, dining out, and telling stories. Herbert is survived by his son, Herbert S. (Rebecca) Rand of Owatonna, MN, two daughters, Crystal (Dean) Gansen of Kasson, MN, and Caprice (Nathan) Biehn of Jordan, MN; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, a sister, Vida Huntley of Hancock, MN; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Rand of Owatonna, MN and his beloved kitty, Clementine. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Vida Rand; his wife, Betty Rand; two daughters, Candace Cole, and Vickie Rand; two brothers Lloyd (Evelyn) Rand, and Earl Rand, and sister, Delphine (Jimmy) Fate. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice. A Funeral Service will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 with visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
