Hilbert Martin Huber, 92, of Owatonna, died Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living.
He was born November 10, 1925 in Campbell County, South Dakota the son of Robert and Martha (Lange) Huber. He grew up on a farm and attended school through the eighth grade. He married Florence Jahraus on September 28, 1947, in Zeeland, ND. The couple farmed in South Dakota for 10 years, moved to Mayville, WI, then to Pierre, SD, and eventually settled in Owatonna in 1969. Hilbert worked at Owatonna Manufacturing Company, later named Mustang Company, until his retirement in 1990.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening, yard work, was a Twins fan and fishing in his earlier years. The love of country music took Hilbert and Florence through Branson and Nashville on their trips to their winter home in South Texas where they enjoyed spending winters until 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Florence of Owatonna; sons, Kenneth Ken (and Donna) Huber of Owatonna, Robert Bob Huber of Burnsville, Gary (Nancy) Huber of Bloomington and James Jim (and Vickie) Huber of Owatonna; grandchildren, Kurt Huber of Bloomington, Todd (Nicole) Huber of Albuquerque and Matthew Nelson of Owatonna; sisters, Delores Singer of Aberdeen, SD and LaVonne (Gerhardt) Ketterling of Zeeland, ND and sisters-in-law, Bernice Huber of Pierre, SD and Vicky Huber of Mayville, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gilbert (in infancy), Homer and Melvin Huber and a sister, Bernice Huber.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Brookdale in Owatonna and especially to the staff at Heartland Hospice.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, October 14th from 4-6pm and at church one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 15, 2018 at 10:30am at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
Memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
