Hilda Anna Schmidt, 93, of Owatonna, died Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Koda Living Community. She was born October 9, 1925 in Lemond Township the daughter of Gustave and Amanda (Dinse) Krenke. Hilda married Norbert Schmidt October 5, 1947 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Meriden. The couple farmed together and raised their children in Lemond Township. She always had a noon meal ready for anyone helping on the farm during harvest and made frequent trips to town with eggs from their chickens. Hilda was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, painting and needlework. She loved flower and vegetable gardening and canning her produce. Time with her family was something she cherished; often playing cards, games, visiting and always making sure they were fed before leaving. Hilda and Norbert enjoyed taking day trips and Sunday car rides together even when the weather didn't cooperate with their plans. She is survived by daughters, Judy (and Gene) Abbe of Owatonna, Sandy Schmidt of Owatonna; sons, Larry (and Linda) Schmidt of Hayward, Lee (and Deb) Schmidt of Medford; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister in law, Arlene Peterson of Waseca and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two great grandchildren and two sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday from 4pm to 7pm and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Meriden on Saturday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10:30am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Meriden with The Reverend Dean Smith officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Meriden. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
