Howard K. Currier, 87, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born March 17, 1921 in Argyle, Minnesota the son of James and Harriet (Goodwin) Currier. Howard graduated from Mantorville High School in 1941, and then started to work at Jostens in Owatonna where he continued working for fourty-one years. Howard married Mildred Stransky November 20, 1964 in Owatonna. He was a charter member of the Owatonna Gun Club, Eagle, Elks, and a Steele County Food Shelf Volunteer. Howard had a great passion for pheasant hunting, dogs and bird watching. His wife Mildred of Owatonna, children Tom Currier of Owatonna and Connie Good of St. Paul, eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren survive him. He is also survived by two brothers Dana Nelson of Lake City, and Loren (and Jeanita) Nelson of Detroit Lakes. Howard was preceded in death by his son James, one sister, and three brothers. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday December 19, 2008 from 6-8 PM and on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Memorial service will be held Saturday December 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Reverend Ronald D. Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in the spring. Memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Hospice and the Owatonna Gun Club.
