Howard Otto Schroht, 89, of Owatonna, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his home.
He was born June 6, 1927 in Berne the son of Otto and Uneita (Streiff) Schroht. Howard married Eleanor Spiekermann August 14, 1949 in Owatonna. The couple has lived in the Owatonna area since their marriage. Howard owned and operated the Conoco Gas Station in downtown Owatonna, worked at General Trading and Napa. He worked at Lincoln Suppliers for over 20 years where he was the warehouse supervisor. Howard drove bus for the Owatonna Bus Company from 1998-2008. He enjoyed the kids and often times brought pop or other treats for them on Fridays.
Howard enjoyed dancing, bowling, camping, trap shooting, hunting and fishing. Hunting in Wyoming and northern Minnesota with his sons and grandsons was a highlight in his life. He attended many sportsmen banquets like Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He cherished his time spent at Lake Francis with his wife, family and friends. He loved to tease his grandkids whenever he could.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor Schroht of Owatonna; daughters, Terry (and Gary) Miller of Geneva, Diane Schroht of Owatonna; sons, Gary (and Connie) Schroht of Baxter, Tim (and Lori) Schroht of Owatonna; sister, Janet (and Roger) Olinger of Owatonna; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Larry Schroht, Lloyd Ike Schroht, James Schroht; sisters, Bonnie Berg, Barb Petersohn.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 3pm to 6pm and on Monday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Memorial services will be held Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10:30am at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Amanda Weinkauf officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna.
